Center Stage students are invited to journey back to the days of the “Wild West” in this crazy western melodrama! Lucy Canary, daughter of the greedy Mayor Canary, refuses to marry the man her father has chosen- Otis Lackginger. While he may be rich, Otis is as old as this hills and certainly not the husband Lucy wants. In order to avoid the wedding, Lucy pretends to be sick, but is unable to share her plan before she “loses her voice”! Now everyone is scrambling to find a doctor to save a wedding that nobody wants to happen in the first place!. Filled with slap-stick drama, hilarious characters and western shenanigans, this hootin’ and hollerin’ comedy is not to be missed!
Our Centre Stage program embraces a diverse community and is open to students in 7th through 12th grade. With a focus on process-based theatre, Centre Stage invites students to enhance their current skills with challenging scripts that expand on movement, characterization, vocal technique, with an overall goal of achieving greater self-esteem and encouraging inclusion and personal confidence.
